Bannan-Sgrìobhte Saor-thoileach Gàidhlig
Ceumannan beaga. Gealltanas sìmplidh. Coimhearsnachd Ghàidhlig nas làidire.
Coimhearsnachd Ghàidhlig nas làidire.
Strengthening Gaelic across Uist will come from taking both small and big steps to use the language more often — and from working together.
The Voluntary Gaelic Workplace Charter gives organisations an opportunity to make a practical commitment to Gaelic as a living language in everyday working and community life. It supports the core purpose of the Uist Gaelic and Community Plan: to protect, strengthen and grow Gaelic for current and future generations.
Dè th’ anns a’ Bhann-Sgrìobhte?
The Charter provides a simple and flexible framework for organisations or businesses that want to increase the use and visibility of Gaelic.
It is voluntary, inclusive and achievable. You do not need to be a Gaelic orientated organisation, . Whether people in your organisation or business speak Gaelic, are learning, know a few words or simply want to support the language, everyone has a role to play.
By adopting a Charter, organisations commit to:
- Protecting, strengthening and growing Gaelic in Uist
- Recognising Gaelic as an important part of Uist’s cultural, social and economic life
- Promoting the use and visibility of Gaelic in their work and communications
- Supporting employees, service users and customers who wish to use Gaelic
The actions can be different for every organisation. The aim is to find realistic ways to use Gaelic more often, build confidence and make the language feel natural in everyday life.
Neart sa Ghàidhlig
Organisations adopting a Charter can display the “Neart sa Ghàidhlig” logo as a visible sign of their support.
It shows that Gaelic is welcome, valued and encouraged, and that your organisation is part of a growing network helping to raise the profile of Gaelic from Eriskay to Berneray.
Every action matters — from a Gaelic greeting or sign to using Gaelic in meetings, communications or services. Together, these small steps can make a real difference.

Stiùireadh a’ Phlana
Bidh a’ Bhuidheann Stiùiridh a’ cumail sùil air Plana Gàidhlig Uibhist, a’ coinneachadh gach trì mìosan gus ath-sgrùdadh a dhèanamh air adhartas, gnìomhan ùrachadh, agus freagairt ri cothroman ùra. Cumaidh an sgrùdadh cunbhalach seo am plana gnìomhail agus freagarrach, a’ leigeil leis atharrachadh mar a tha an suidheachadh ionadail ag atharrachadh.
https://gaidhliguibhist.scot/ will act as a central point for updates, practical tools, and examples of what’s working. It will also help individuals, groups, and organisations find ways to contribute or lead on particular actions. Social media and and regular updates on the Ceòlas FB site will help keep Plana Gàidhlig Uibhist visible and connected to the wider community.
Thèid tosgairean ionadail ainmeachadh air feadh nan eileanan gus adhartas a bhrosnachadh agus adhartas a roinn air meadhanan sòisealta.
‘Se adhartas cunbhalach, leantainneach agus practaigeach an t-amas agus chan ann dìreach airson aon iomairt a thèid a chur an dara taobh rè ùine. Le bhith a’ toirt a-steach daoine fa lath, coimhearsnachdan agus ag obair gu dlùth ri buidhnean ionadail agus buidhnean poblach, thèid againn air suidheachadh a chruthachadh far am bith barrachd làthaireachd aig a’ Ghàidhlig far a bheil i air a cleachdadh nas fharsainge ann am beatha làitheil air feadh Uibhist.
